The 2015 Deadline is Feburary 15th 2015 after 2/15/2015 open enrollment ends. The only way a to buy Insurance after open enrollment is to qualify for a Special Enrollment Peroid.

The penalty in 2015 is now up to 2% of an individuals household income.  So an individual that makes $40,000 could face penalties up to $800 and if they have a family it could be even more. In addition to the penalty the individual WON'T be able to buy insurance for 2015 unless they qualify for a Special Enrollment Peroid In the future. 

A S.E.P. or Special Enrollment Peroid are circumstances which permit an indivdual to get coverage outside of the open enrollment peroid. Some Special Enrollment Peroid qualifications are 

- Marriage 

- Divorce

- Moving out of state

- Release from prision

- Birth

- Losing credible coverage
